Well, purchasing a hot tub is a big investment into your wellbeing, and while buying a brand new one may not be feasible for everyone, second-hand or ex-display hot tubs can be a good option for those with a smaller budget. Used hot tubs can usually be found in classified ads, online marketplaces, while ex-display models can be found at certain retailers. Whilst we don’t offer second-hand hot tubs ourselves, we occasionally have ex-display and refurbished models available in our sales.
Of course, buying a second-hand hot tub privately from an online marketplace has its own risks. A lot are sold as seen, with potential faults that you may have to spend more money on, with no one to hold accountable. New & ex-display hot tubs bought from a retailer will have been looked after correctly and you will be able to ask questions about the hot tub, as well as order parts very easily.

From our experience, whether it is new or second-hand, we’d recommend going to trial the hot tub you are looking at purchasing if possible, or at least sitting in it whilst it is empty so you can get an idea of size. Make sure you ask lots of questions and get as much information as you can about the hot tub, such as age, it’s history, any repairs it’s had as well as the basics such as knowing the features and how many jets. This will help you understand the value for money as well as making sure it’s definitely the right hot tub for you. Remember – a higher number of jets doesn’t equal a better hydromassage! Proper hot tub maintenance is really important to ensure its longevity and performance. If you are looking to buy second hand, it’s worth considering how well it has been looked after by the previous owner. Has the pipework been thoroughly cleaned? Has it been serviced regularly? If you end up with a hot tub that hasn’t been cared for properly, it may lead to more expensies down the line for you. Although we don’t sell second hand hot tubs, knowing that Jacuzzi® stock all parts from older models does make Jacuzzi® branded hot tubs a safer proposition when thinking about a second hand hot tub.
