Cheap Hot Tubs | Are they worth it?

Cheap Hot Tubs is one of the most searched terms on google when people start their Hot Tub buying journey but are cheap hot tubs a good investment and how much Hot Tub do you actually get for your money.

The answer to this question is actually quite scary.

So, off to Google I went and typed in the holy grail of searches to find a cheap hot tub. The first sponsored listing offered me a large 7 seater Hot Tub for £3,999. I won’t say who the retailer is but their hot tubs, like many others are made in China. This is not meant to bash Chinese Manufacturing quality, but to recognise that the cost of shipping from China needs to be taken into consideration.

Once you have taken the VAT off the retailer is left with £3,332 but they also offer 12 months interest free credit which will be costing them around 7% of the amount financed. Let’s go for the low deposit option of £99 and finance the rest which leaves the retailer £3,059. The cost of shipping from China at the time of writing this is around £5,000 per 40’ container so about £300 per hot tub. If we remove this and their estimated profit it means their cost is around £1,850.

If you then factor in the profits of the manufacturer you are left with a hot tub that costs around £1,200 to build.

Knowing how much good quality pumps, heaters, acrylic and cabinets cost, you can only draw one conclusion about the quality of the components used.

This reminds me of a quote by John Ruskin:

Whilst the Jacuzzi range is more expensive than in the above example, you really do get a lot for your money, in terms of product quality, innovation, insulation and most importantly the amazing user experience when you are actually using your Hot Tub.
