Common Hot Tub Problems & Solutions

This is usually a sign they need to be replaced. Any grumbling noises may mean you need to make a few adjustments and squealing sounds indicate the bearings have worn out. Check for loose bolts and screws if you get a noisy hum coming from the pump. Hot Tub pump problems can impact the functioning of your jets. Check to see if your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub filter has got clogged up and make sure it hasn’t taken in any water. Check the valves in your pump are fully open and remove anything that could be causing it to clog up.

The very first thing you should do is turn off the power supply, if you think your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub may be leaking. Now to find the leak…

Hot Tub leaks are most commonly from the pump. If the leak is coming from the Hot Tub pump, you may need a replacement part within the pump such as the seal or, in a worst-case scenario, a new pump. Repairing pumps is usually a short-term fix so we wouldn’t recommend this.

You will more than likely need to purchase a replacement, if you find the leak is coming from the heater.

Check all of your Hot Tub connections such as the pipes and jets. Look over the shell of the Hot tub to check for any holes or cracks which may be causing the leak.

Make sure to check all of your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub air control valves as one of these could also be causing the problem. Some of the valves have compartments bolted together with a gasket between them, inspect these too as this is sometimes known to fail and cause leakage.

Leaks are obviously a serious issue, especially as water and electricity don’t mix! Please give our Jacuzzi® Hot Tub experts a call should your Hot Tub start leaking, and we will do our very best to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

When your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub control panel has found an issue with your settings, it will display error messages.

We have put a list together of a few common messages that may be displayed. Hot tub error codes can vary depending on the model of your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub.

FLO = There is a water flow or pressure error

OH = The sensors have detected a high-water temperature which could cause overheating

DRY = The heater is experiencing an inadequate flow

COOL = The water temperature is below the recommendation

SNA or SNB = Your hot tub has shut down as the sensor plugged in to socket A or B is not working

Please refer to your user manual if your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub control panel is alerting you to any other error codes. This will include a full list of codes and their meanings.

Hot Tub struggling to reach the right temperature? Hot tub heater problems can be common, but they are usually quite simple to fix yourself.
Your Hot Tub may not be heating up properly for one of two reasons:

• problems with the water flow
• faults with the heater element

If you have an FLO error or circulation fault, it most likely is time to clean your filters. Please feel free to head over to our blog on ‘How do I clean my hot Tub filter’ for more information on this. 

The heater can fail for a few reasons, but one of the most common is if it has been subject to corrosion caused by low pH in the water supply. Unfortunately, once your heater is corroded, it needs to be replaced.

Check your water levels! The Hot Tub heater relies on a sufficient flow of water. It will fail to operate if there isn’t enough water and the flow struggles to circulate.

Every Jacuzzi® Hot Tub is fitted with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), This protects against any electrical faults that could cause an electrical shock to a person.

The GFCI will come into action and your Hot Tub power will shut off if the electrical path the current is flowing through becomes unsafe. For safety reasons, the GFCI is very sensitive and even just the smallest of issues can cause the breaker to trip.  

A range of issues may cause your breaker to trip. Although some of these may be a simple fix, we advise that you please give us a call and we can offer the best advice on the next steps, as you are dealing with electricity and water.
