When you force a high volume of water through any small space, you get turbulence. Turbulence really isn't easy to swim in. You end up falling out of the swim channel and fighting the water which makes for a really uncomfortable swim! 

Jacuzzi® have added a 'shredder' to their swim jets. These are vertical blades in the jet which calm the water down and reduce that turbulence to give you a smooth stream of water.

Lots of swimmers find a swim spa a lot different to a pool or even open water. This is mostly due to bouyancy. As you aren't physically moving anywhere, there is no moving water underneath you to push your body up, therefore swimmers who have slightly weaker core muscles tend to be on an angle with their feet down when using a swim spa.  

So, Jacuzzi® found a solution to this too! Found in selected models, the Bouyancy Jet uses air to push your body up and help you stay horizontal in the water.

So you've got this lovely calm stream of water for you to swim against, but where does it go after that? Usually, that water would flow past the swimmer, hit the shell at the back and return up the swim chamber causing the swimmer all kinds of issues. 

To stop this, Jacuzzi® created hips in their swim spa. These hips obstruct this flow, create an eddy and stop the back splash from happening to keeping your swim smooth and uninterrupted.

The suctions points at which water is sucked back in to the system can also play a huge part if you are experiencing turbulence in a swim spa. Many manufacturers position their suction points at the front of the spa, right underneath the jets. This draws the water down and in the opposite direction to the water flow, creating that turbulence & unbalancing your swim. 

Jacuzzi® position their suction points at the back of the swim chamber to avoid this issue completely. Once smooth path for the water to flow round creates a perfect smooth swim.
